City of Convenience: Finding concepts and experiencing them live
Convenience is not an abstract marketing concept. It is, especially in our cities, everyday life. In order to understand what convenience is all about, you should experience different shop concepts with their corresponding fast and casual catering. However it is not easy to find interesting and profitable convenience concepts in every large city. For this very reason “City of Convenience” (CoC) from the trade magazine Convenience Shop is that successful. The series, starting in 2011, offers a visitor guideline on numerous cities for all those professionals, who want to see exciting concepts, thus providing benefit for the sector. There are regular updates for large cities like Cologne, Munich or Hamburg, as the very latest ideas play a decisive role for trade visitors. Visitors to C-Shop Cologne can seize the opportunity to access information on two CoCs about Cologne and one about Bonn, which are presented in the special section in the exhibition catalogue. Combine your attendance at C-Shop Cologne with a visit of the most exciting shop concepts. We introduce the first two of them to you:
Hansa Kiosk
Cologne City, Hansaring 19
Spending half an hour in Erol Kayas walk-in kiosk is enough to be informed on the neighborhood. Kayas knows his peers almost inside out, he smiles. From 7 a.m. to 12 p.m. they get snacks, coffee to go, tobaccos, sweets or dishwashing detergent. And there’s still enough space for a corner with beverages and a large variety of wines, decoratively put in place. Kaya runs his kiosk together with his family.

Esso Filling station
Köln Deutz, Deutz-Kalker-Str. 103
A trapeze made of cement makes this Esso filling station that interesting. The canopy - a relict from the 60ies - is a protected historic monument. Two new-age glass roofs were put aside of it. Concerning size and equipment the shop has modern standards with an atrium in the middle. A lot of space for a bakery and bistro station, a walk-in cooler, a corner with beverages and articles for everyday demands.
